Maintain your carpets using an eco-friendly solution

We have come to a point in time where we need to be more conscious and considerate of what products we use. Because we have for decades been abusing our planet's resources for reasons that are not necessary. For one reason, it was and still is to clean our carpets in our homes. Not only is it bad for our planet, but it may also be bad for you. The cleaning solutions that a lot of commercial cleaning companies use include chemicals on synthetic fibers which introduce pesticides, formaldehyde, and lye that end up in the air of your home. However, many people and carpet cleaning companies like ours, have taken the leap to clean carpets just as effectively with little to no environmental impact using non-toxic, plant-based cleaning solutions. If this is something you are interested in adopting to your cleaning routine, then read on as I will explain to you how you can clean your carpet and rugs eco-friendlier.

Why should you go green with your carpets?

Before I tell you the environmental-friendly cleaning solution for your carpet, I will note that this method may not be the most effective when cleaning a carpet for the first time in years or treating spots that have been there for as long as you can remember.

Before we get into it, there's something to note about The organic method I will present to you is different from what we use because we employ cleaning methods using a specialised steamer (producing low-moisture). Knowing that most residential houses will not have a low-moisture steam machine or a hot-carbonation extraction like we do, there are still ways you can get around to cleaning organically using common household products.

Let's get on with the products...

Baking soda

Baking soda has been used by many household users for as long as we can remember because of how versatile and cheap it is and effective too. Simply spread some baking soda powder onto your carpet, maybe extra on spotted areas, and leave it to rest for a couple of hours.

Then grab a standard vacuum machine and watch how it takes away all the dirt and bad odors away.

Tips to Cleaning organically

Down below are the steps you can follow to properly clean your carpets and have them smelling fresh by the end of it.

1.  Vacuum regularly. Try to maintain a vacuuming routine of once a week. The more you vacuum, the easier it'll be to maintain your carpets and the longer it will last. Ever wondered how antique carpets look so well-preserved? Regular maintenance.

2. Get rid of stains as soon as it shows up. The fast you do this, the easier it will be to keep your carpet rid of spots. Because the longer a stain stays on the fibers of the carpet, the harder it will be to get rid of as it becomes more permanent requiring more advanced cleaning solutions.

To get rid of stains, simply mix one part of vinegar and two parts of water into a spray bottle and spray onto the spotted area. Then, grab a wet towel and place it on the spotted area. Then, with an iron that you use to iron your clothes, press the heated plate onto the wet towel sitting above the stain. In about 30 seconds to a minute, most stains will break up and disappear just like that!

3. Mix equal parts of water and vinegar into your steamer if you have one. Instead of detergent, use the labeled two organic ingredients. If you'd like to get a nice smell out of the process, you can drop in some essential oils to enjoy a nice smell at the end of it. The ratio of water and vinegar will have to depend on how areas you clean.
There you have it. These are some powerful green tips for you to maintain your home in a more eco-friendly manner. If there is something you'd like ask or share, you can always reach us on 0117-456-2227 or through our home page
